Man assaults girlfriend visiting him at hospital

Lawrenceburg Now

A Lawrenceburg woman visiting her boyfriend at the hospital sustained serious injuries when he assaulted her Easter morning.

According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department, officers were dispatched to Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems around 9:40 Sunday morning regarding an assault that had occurred inside of the emergency room.

They spoke with the twenty-two year old victim, who reported that her injuries had been inflicted by her boyfriend who, at the time, was at the hospital for suicide evaluation.

The victim told officers that her boyfriend had been transported to the hospital for evaluation in the wake of a domestic altercation that occurred around nine hours prior. She said that she had come to visit him Sunday morning and shortly after her arrival he became physically combative. He then assaulted her, punching her head repeatedly. She said he continued hitting her until hospital personnel were able to separate them.

Hospital employees told officers that the victim had sustained serious facial injuries, including multiple fractures to her face. The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville “due to the severity of her injuries.”

Officers report that they obtained warrants against the thirty-two year old suspect charging him with aggravated assault and domestic assault. At the time reports were filed the warrants had not yet been served due to the suspect’s hospitalization and suicide evaluation.
